Easter is only a few sleeps away! And, while the temptation of hot cross buns and chocolate easter eggs has been around for months … there are even more to choose from when the Easter bunny arrives and we have a few days off! d1204e41c74ab88e1ecf78d0ecda402a

Keeping the temptations at arms length is not always easy, there are a few things you can do to survive the Easter break without feeling guilty and your clothes from feeling tighter!

Here are some tips to survive Easter without adding any extra kilos …

Make Healthy Choices     Be mindful of the choices you make. Whenever you can choose healthy nutritious options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. If you know you are eating away from home for dinner make healthy choices for the rest of your meals. And, no you don’t need 3 extra servings of dessert no matter how good it tastes!

Control what you can, be mindful of your other choices.

Move More     Make a goal for yourself over the break to move every day for a minimum of 30 minutes. If you get it done first thing in the morning, then it’s out of the way for the day … and you are getting ahead of the calories you might eat for the rest of the day! I’m sure moving each day will be better than sitting on the couch wishing you hadn’t eaten those extra hot cross buns or easter eggs!

Stay active!

Don’t Buy Too Early     Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs have been available since January .. ridiculous really! I’m partial to those mini solid Cadbury eggs and I certainly don’t need them calling to me while I do the grocery shop each week! The more you have access to these temptations, the more you will be tempted .. don’t allow it to happen! Only buy what you need for Easter, just before you need it!

Hot Cross Buns / Easter eggs     As I mentioned above, these have been available for ages and the next few days both of these tasty little treats make up way more of our regular diet than they should! They are just so easy to eat! Rather than having a Hot Cross Buns every day for breakfast, just pick one day and really enjoy one .. you know, maybe toasted with a lashing of butter. When it comes to easter eggs, rather than mindlessly hoovering them down because you have a bowl on the bench with a variety to choose from ( OK, this may happen in our house over the weekend ), you could choose 1 or 2 good quality easter eggs and savour them.

Being mindful & conscious of your choices is key.

Don’t Regret Your Choices     Easter is not about what you have or haven’t eaten or how much. If you overindulge one day, move on and start fresh the next day. Feeling guilty and regretting your choices is one feeling that you don’t want to have to feel! Punishing yourself over the next few days with exercise or restricting food will certainly not help!

Most importantly, enjoy your Easter with family & friends .. be mindful of your choices and move on! You’ve got this!

Wishing you a safe and happy Easter with your family & friends!
