Ok so it’s almost the last week in February.  The kids are back at school and you are back into some sort of routine.  I did say sort of !!

You’ve put the tips I gave last week into action, right and you are getting back into your exercise routine.  But you are still struggling to shift the last few leftover Christmas kilos.  I’ve got some tips for you … let’s get back to basics …

Top 5 tips to shift the Christmas leftovers

1     Drink more water.  It’s a biggie and most people just don’t drink enough.  It’s even more important in this hot weather!  A big glass in the morning to get you going, and follow it up with a glass before every meal.  Keep your bottle handy and drink throughout the day as you need.

2     Eat a balance of healthy, fresh foods including fruit, veggies and lean protein.  Don’t cut out food groups as you will miss out on the necessary vitamins and minerals that food group offers. *Unless of course you have a medical reason for cutting them out!

3     Avoid processed foods!  Yes, sometimes they taste good but it’s only your mind that wants them, not your body!  I include breads and pastas here as many people tend to eat them far too often and in way too big of a serve.  A small serve or two a day is more than enough.

4     Stop starving yourself by counting calories.  All this does is stress you out about how much you should or shouldn’t be eating!  Follow tips 2 & 3 and the calories will take care of themselves!

5     You do not need alcohol to survive.  And, they are empty calories.  A glass or two a week is fine if you are trying to lose weight, not a glass or two every night.  Try limiting yourself to a glass or two on the weekend.

And, here’s an extra one …
